His Plus Mine Equals Us

Today completes the first year of our blended family, as of tomorrow my husband and I celebrate our first anniversary. In my husbands words about the past year "It's been awful," and he is the optimistic one!

I don't know why, but I have always wanted to write a book. I also wanted to be a family counselor, nurse, own an antique furniture business and many other things as well. I am in school taking prerequisites for nursing, loved my psychology class (I think I might minor in psychology which could lead to counseling), bought paint today to begin refinishing furniture, and I guess this is my attempt--or the closest I am going to get for now--at writing a book.

If I wrote a book, it could be about myriad of things that I have had first hand experience with; "Do's and Dont's of Divorce" or "Dating and the Single Life" or "Keeping Your Sanity While Raising Your Kids as a Single Parent" or "What To Do With that Other Woman In Your Husbands Life" or how about "How Not To Be a Dumb Parent" or "What To Do When Your Step Children's Mother Doesn't Want to Parent"; these are just a few. I am choosing to do something that I am experiencing right now, in hopes that I will be able to improve and enjoy this and make it a greater experience versus one of those that you just muddle through and endure. I also hope that with the divorce rates at nearly 50 percent and remarriages at roughly 4 out of 5 of those that divorce; that I might be able to provide some help and/or inspiration to just one family. There are many blended and non-blended families out there who are attempting to make something wonderful of things that were once and in some ways still are; broken. It is also my prayer that this will help me to make wonderful things happen within the confines of my family, so that I will have good things to say and report here.

Okay, I got this thing started; bear with me while I think of the best things to say here in my little space dedicated to this subject; my family. ; )

I welcome your emails at gator5909@yahoo.com. In the mean time my prayers are with you and your families where ever you are and that you are having great and wonderful experiences.

  1. Gail what a great idea to start this blog. It will probably be therapeutic to be able to put down your feelings. This is a good time of year to get started, before the list grows. It will be fun to check in and see how you are doing. I Love ya!

  2. Hey Aunt Gail. I love your humor. This is a great idea. I bet there are quite a few people going through what you've gone through right now and you could give them counsel. I bet you could help a lot of people. Even advise on how to safeguard your marriage. You should become a fan of other people's blogs like yours and start building a following. You could also talk about the classes you're taking and what you're learning. How fun. Best of luck!!!
